World Bank Approves $1.25 Billion Support Package for Nigeria’s 2026–2032 Development Agenda
Abuja, Nigeria – July 2, 2026
The World Bank has approved a $1.25 billion support package for Nigeria as part of a new Country Partnership Framework covering the period from 2026 to 2032.
According to the World Bank, the funding is aimed at stimulating private sector investment, creating jobs, and improving access to critical services such as electricity, digital infrastructure, agriculture, and other sectors considered essential for sustainable economic growth.
The development framework seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s economy by promoting inclusive growth, encouraging investment, and improving opportunities for businesses and young people across the country. The initiative also supports efforts to enhance productivity and expand access to essential services.
Economic analysts believe the partnership could contribute to job creation and increased investment if the planned reforms are effectively implemented. They, however, note that the success of the programme will depend on transparency, accountability, and efficient execution by relevant authorities.
The World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s long-term development priorities through strategic investments and collaboration with both public and private sector stakeholders.
More details on the implementation of the programme are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
