The Odidi and Kantu Federated Communities in Delta State have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to urgently intervene over a crude oil spill from the Trans-Forcados Pipeline operated by Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited. The communities said the spill occurred on February 19, 2026, and despite being reported immediately, it has remained unresolved, leaving residents to face severe environmental, health, and economic challenges. According to community leaders, the spill has crippled fishing activities, polluted rivers used for drinking and domestic purposes, and spread beneath residential homes, exposing residents to serious health risks. They noted that the Trans-Forcados Pipeline is a major crude oil evacuation line transporting production from OML 4, OML 38, OML 41 operated by Seplat Energy; OML 42 operated by Neconde Energy; OML 34 operated by ND Western; and OML 26 operated by First Hydrocarbon Nigeria, with a combined daily evacuation of about 160,000 barrels of crude oil to the Forcados Terminal. A brief interview of the affected persons in the area The affected communities are calling on President Tinubu to direct the relevant regulatory agencies and Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited to immediately contain the spill, clean up the polluted environment, provide medical support and relief materials, and ensure adequate compensation for affected residents.
